Indications

The symptomatic relief of nausea and vomiting.

Dosage

  • Domperidone STELLA 10 mg should be used at the lowest effective dose for the shortest duration necessary. The maximum treatment duration should not exceed one week.
  • Adults and adolescents (12 years of age and older and weighing 35 kg or more): One tablet up to three times per day with a maximum dose of 3 tablets per day.
  • In severe renal impairment, on repeated administration, the dosing frequency of Domperidone STELLA 10 mg should be reduced to once or twice daily depending on the severity of the impairment, and the dose may need to be adjusted base on the severity of impairment.

Usage

It is recommended to take domperidone before meals, at the scheduled time.

  • Known hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients.
  • Prolactin releasing pituitary tumour (prolactinoma).
  • Stimulation of the gastric motility could be harmful such as gastrointestinal haemorrhage, mechanical obstruction or perforation.
  • In patients with moderate or severe hepatic impairment.
  • In patients who have known existing prolongation of cardiac conduction intervals, particularly QTc, patients with significant electrolyte disturbances or underlying cardiac diseases such as congestive heart failure.
  • Co-administration with QT- prolonging drugs, potent CYP3A4 inhibitors.

Rare

  • Gastro-intestinal disorders;
  • Galactorrhoea and gynaecomastia (in male), amenorrhoea (in female).

 

  • Adjustment to doses in renal failure if required.
  • Patients with rare hereditary problems of galactose intolerance, the Lapp lactase deficiency or glucose-galactose malabsorption should not take this medicine.
  • Patients with cardiovascular diseases.
  • Domperidone should only be used during pregnancy when justified by the anticipated therapeutic benefit. A decision should be made whether to discontinue breast-feeding or to discontinue/abstain from domperidone therapy.
  • Patients should not drive cars or use machines if extrapyramidal reactions or drowsiness occurs. These 02 cases have been reported occuring in rare frequency.
