Progestad VT 100

Rx

Indications

• Progestad VT 100 is indicated for luteal support as part of assisted reproductive technology (ART) – a treatment program for women with infertility.

Dosage

• Adults:
  Use Progestad VT 100 vaginal suppositories three times daily starting from oocyte retrieval.
• If pregnancy is confirmed, continue use for 30 days.
• Do not use this medication in children.
• There is no clinical data in patients over 65 years of age.
• There is no evidence regarding the use of this medication in patients with hepatic or renal impairment.

Usage

• Progestad VT 100 is inserted directly into the vagina.

• Hypersensitivity to progesterone or any component of the drug.
• Unexplained vaginal bleeding.
• Known miscarriage or ectopic pregnancy.
• Liver disease or severe hepatic dysfunction.
• Known or suspected breast cancer or gynecological cancer.
• Active venous or arterial thromboembolism or severe thrombophlebitis, or a history of these conditions.
• Porphyrin metabolism disorder.

Common 

• Headache.
• Bloating, abdominal pain, nausea.
• Uterine contractions.

• Discontinue Progestad VT 100 if there is any suspicion of myocardial infarction, cerebrovascular disease, thrombotic venous or arterial occlusion (thrombotic venous or pulmonary embolism), thrombophlebitis, or retinal thrombosis.
• Use with caution in patients with mild to moderate hepatic impairment.
• Patients with a history of depression should be closely monitored. Consider discontinuing the medication if symptoms worsen.
• Because progesterone can cause some degree of fluid retention, careful monitoring of conditions that may be affected by fluid retention (such as epilepsy, migraine, asthma, cardiac or renal dysfunction) is necessary.
• The drug reduces insulin sensitivity, therefore glucose intolerance has been noted in a small number of patients using combined estrogen-progestogen therapy. Diabetic patients should be monitored while being treated with progesterone.
• The use of sex steroids may also increase the risk of retinal vascular damage. To prevent future complications, caution is advised in users over 35 years of age, smokers, and those with risk factors for atherosclerosis. Use should be discontinued in cases of transient ischemic attack, sudden severe headache, or visual impairment associated with papilledema or retinal hemorrhage.
• Abrupt discontinuation of progesterone may cause increased anxiety, mood swings, and increased susceptibility to seizures.
• Before starting treatment with Progestad VT 100, patients and their partners should be evaluated by a doctor to determine the cause of infertility.
• Progestad VT 100 contains lactose. This medication should not be used in patients with rare hereditary problems of galactose intolerance, total lactase deficiency, or glucose-galactose malabsorption.
• Progestad VT 100 is only indicated during the first trimester of pregnancy as part of assisted reproductive technology (ART).
• Progestad VT 100 has a weak to moderate effect on the ability to drive and operate machinery, and may cause drowsiness and/or dizziness. Caution should be exercised when using it in drivers and those operating machinery.
