Indications

Treatment of bronchial secretion disorders, in particular during acute bronchial affections: acute bronchitis and acute episode of chronic bronchopneumopathies.

Dosage

• Adults and children over 7 years old: 600 mg per day, in 3 divided doses, i.e. 1 sachet 3 times per day.
• Children from 2 to 7 years old: 400 mg per day, in 2 doses, i.e. 1 sachet 2 times a day.
• The duration of treatment will not exceed 8 to 10 days without medical advice.

Usage

Stacytine 200 GRA is administered orally. Dissolve the granules in half a glass of water then drink.

• Hypersensitivity to the active substance or to any of the excipients of the drug.
• Infant (less than 2 years old).

• Hypersensitivity, anaphylactic shock, anaphylactic and anaphylactoid reactions.
• Bronchial congestion (especially in infants and in some patients unable to sputum effectively), bronchospasm especially in asthma patients.
• Abdominal pain upper, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea. It is advisable to reduce the dose.
• Allergic dermatitis, pruritus, rash erythematosus, urticaria, angioedema, Steven-Johnson and Lyell Syndromes.

• The association of bronchial mucomodifiers with cough suppressants and/or substances which dry up bronchial secretions (atropine) is irrational.
• Treatment with acetylcysteine should be reassessed if symptoms or disease persist or worsen.
• At the start of treatment with acetylcysteine, the bronchial secretions may become more fluid and increase in volume which can lead to bronchial congestion. This medicine should be used with caution in people who have difficulty or inability to expectorate.
• Mucolytics should therefore not be used in infants.
• Caution is required in subjects with asthma or with a history of bronchospasm. If bronchospasm develops, treatment with acetylcysteine should be stopped immediately.
• Serious skin reactions such as Stevens-Johnson syndrome and Lyell syndrome have been reported very rarely with the administration of acetylcysteine.
• Caution when taking acetylcysteine is advised in patients at high risk of bleeding.
• Stacytine 200 GRA contains saccharose. Patients with rare hereditary problems of fructose intolerance, glucose-galactose malabsorption or sucrase-isomaltase insufficiency should not take this medicine.
• Caution is advised in subjects with peptic ulcer disease taking acetylcysteine.
• As a precaution, it is best to avoid the administration of acetylcysteine during pregnancy and lactation.
• No effect on the ability to drive and use machines has been observed.
