PRESCRIBING INFORMATION

Indications

  • Acute and chronic obstructive respiratory diseases such as asthma, bronchitis, and bronchiectasis due to excessive mucus production.
  • Enhances mucus dissolution in nasopharyngeal inflammation.

Dosage

  • Adults:
    1 tablet 3 times/day for the first 2-3 days of treatment, then 1 tablet 2 times/day.
  • Children and adolescents:
    Over 12 years: 1 tablet 3 times/day for the first 2-3 days of treatment, then 1 tablet 2 times/day or ½ tablet 3 times/day.
    5-12 years: ½ tablet 2-3 times/day.
    For children under 5 years old, ambroxol hydrochloride syrup should be used instead of tablets.
  • Do not use ambroxol hydrochloride tablets for longer than 4-5 days without the consent of a treating physician.

Usage

  • Take the medicine after meals, with plenty of water.
  • Hypersensitivity to ambroxol, bromhexine, or any of the excipients of the drug.
  • Gastrointestinal inflammatory and ulcerative diseases.

Common

  • Nausea.
  • Hypersensitivity reactions may occur during drug use.
  • Caution should be exercised when using ambroxol in cases of impaired bronchial motility or large amounts of secretion (such as in the rare malignant ciliary syndrome).
  • Severe skin reactions such as erythema multiforme, Stevens-Johnson syndrome (SJS)/toxic epidermal necrolysis (TEN), and acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis (AGEP) associated with ambroxol have been reported. In case of progression of skin rash signs or symptoms (sometimes accompanied by vesicles or mucosal lesions), the drug should be discontinued immediately and a doctor should be consulted.
  • Patients with severe renal or hepatic impairment should only use ambroxol under the guidance of a doctor.
  • Because it contains lactose, Ambroxol Auxilto 30 mg should not be used in patients with rare hereditary problems of galactose intolerance, total lactase deficiency, or glucose-galactose malabsorption.
  • Ambroxol should not be used during the first three months of pregnancy or while breastfeeding.
  • No data have been found indicating the effect of ambroxol on the ability to drive or operate machinery.
