PRESCRIBING INFORMATION

Indications

Adults and elderly: Relief of all grades of pain and inflammation in a wide range of conditions, including:

  • Arthritic conditions: Rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, acute gout,
  • Acute musculo-skeletal disorders such as periarthritis (for example frozen shoulder), tendinitis, tenosynovitis, bursitis,
  • Other painful conditions resulting from trauma, including fracture, low back pain, sprains, strains, dislocations, orthopaedic, dental and other minor surgery.

Dosage

  • Adults: 75 – 150 mg daily, in divided doses. The recommended maximum daily dose is 150 mg.
  • It is recommended that the lowest effective dosage be used in frail elderly patients or those with a low body weight and the patient should be monitored for GI bleeding during NSAID therapy.
  • Patients with cardiovascular and significant cardiovascular risk factors: The lowest effective daily dose should be used and for the shortest duration possible.

Usage

  • Stadlofen 50 Supp. is not to be taken by mouth, as per rectal administration only.
  • Patients should insert the suppository deep into the rectum after a bowel movement. To allow the suppository to harden before use, it can be refrigerated at 4-10°C for 5-10 minutes. The medication will dissolve on its own under body temperature.
  • Patients are advised to use the lowest effective dose for the shortest possible duration.
  • Individuals hypersensitive to any component of the drug.
  • Children.
  • Patients with severe renal or hepatic impairment.
  • Patients with congestive heart failure (NYHA classes II–IV), ischemic heart disease, peripheral arterial disease, or cerebrovascular disease.
  • Patients who have experienced asthma attacks, urticaria, or acute rhinitis triggered by acetylsalicylic acid or other NSAIDs.
  • Individuals with a history of gastrointestinal bleeding or perforation associated with NSAID therapy.
  • Individuals with proctitis.
  • Individuals with active gastric or intestinal ulcers, bleeding, or perforation.
  • Women in the third trimester of pregnancy and breast feeding.

Possible adverse reactions:

  • Headache, dizziness,
  • Dizziness, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea,
  • Indigestion, abdominal pain, bloating, loss of appetite,
  • Increased liver transaminases,
  • Rash.
  • Diclofenac may temporarily inhibit platelet aggregation. Patients with hemostatic defects require careful monitoring.
  • Do not use Stadlofen 50 Supp. concomitantly with systemic NSAIDs, including selective cyclooxygenase-2 inhibitors, to avoid adverse effects.
  • Diclofenac may mask the signs and symptoms of infection.
  • The drug may impair female fertility and is not recommended for women attempting to conceive.
  • Stadlofen 50 Supp. is contraindicated during the third trimester of pregnancy and during breast feeding.
  • Stadlofen 50 Supp. may cause visual disturbances, dizziness, vertigo, drowsiness, or other central nervous system disorders. Patients should not drive or operate machinery while using Stadlofen 50 Supp.
